Now, this is an interesting match at the box office. While nearly everyone is talking about Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar clashing with Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again this Diwali, there is another biggie clash that’s happening two weeks later. While one movie is about Gods fighting with each other, other is about two suspects trying to frame each other in a murder conspiracy. We are talking about Thor: Ragnarok and Ittefaq. There are also three other Bollywood movies – The House Next Door, Ribbon and Julie 2 releasing on the same day, but all eyes will be on Thor and Ittefaq as far as the box office is concerned.
First, let’s talk about Ittefaq. One of this murder mystery’s biggest USPs is that Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar are coming together after Dear Zindagi to produce this remake of the Rajesh Khanna classic. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, the movie is directed by Abhay Chopra, the grandson of the late BR Chopra. Akshaye Khanna plays an important role of a cop investigating two murders in which both Sidharth and Sonakshi are implicated and are trying to shift blame to each other. The makers are keeping it low key as far as the promotions is concerned, wanting the product to seek attention by itself. Interesting!
On the other hand, there is Thor: Ragnarok. The 17th movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is also the third entry in the Thor trilogy. Chris Hemsworth plays the God of Thunder, while Thor: Ragnarok also brings back Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Anthony Hopkins (Odin) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). The new players include Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. The movie is directed by Taika Waititi, who made the funny What We do In The Shadows. Marvel movies have always found love among our audiences, so we are sure Thor: Ragnarok will get a good start at the box office, since the trailers have been well-received.
