Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 beats Badrinath Ki Dulhania and ABCD 2; becomes the actor’s highest box office opener ever

Varun Dhawan‘s Judwaa 2 has started off with a bang at the domestic box office. The film has raked in Rs 16.10 crore on day 1, giving it a fantastic start that it deserved. With that, the film has become the fourth highest opener of 2017. But that’s not it! Judwaa 2 has also beaten the first day collections of Badrinath Ki Dulhania and ABCD 2, to become the actor’s highest opener till date…

If you compare the opening day collections of Varun Dhawan’s each film till now, you will realise what we are talking about. Till now, ABCD 2 (Rs 14.30 crore) was his highest opener. But Judwaa 2 (Rs 16.10 crore) has broken this record and taken over the lead.  Badrinath Ki Dulhania (Rs 12.25 crore) comes in third spot, followed by Dishoom (Rs 11.05 crore), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Rs 9.02 crore), Student of the Year (Rs 7.48 crore), Badlapur (Rs 7 crore) and Main Tera Hero (Rs 6.60 crore). For those of you who are thinking why we didn’t take Dilwale, then let us tell you that the film was more a Shah Rukh Khan movie, than his film. Meanwhile, Judwaa 2 continues to rake in the moolah at the box office. According to reports, the film is performing phenomenally well even on day 2. We expect the film to keep growing over the weekend and rake in more than Rs 50 crore in the first three days itself. This has all been courtesy the fantastic buzz, engaging content, decent reviews as well as the amazing word of mouth publicity that the film received.
