The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 2017: Nitesh Shetty shines the brightest while Hakim leaves Akshay Kumar with tears of laughter

After nine years, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge is back on TV. It is a favourite as that particular season had given us comedians like Ehsaan Qureshi, Raju Srivastava, Kapil Sharma and Sunil Pal to name a few. The concept of a comedian was initiated by this show and we cannot thank it enough. With Akshay Kumar providing the star power this season, there are quite a few expectations from the show. Last time, we had Navjot Singh Sidhu who was a real rockstar. Besides Akshay Kumar, it also has Mallika Dua, Hussain Dalal and Zakir Khan as the judges.

The first contestant was Abhay Kumar. The visually challenged contestant presented an act, which highlighted the issues faced by the physically challenged in India. The judges loved his confidence and composure on the show. He was a huge fan of Akshay who said he was damn inspired by Abhay and his attitude towards life. He was selected ahead for the competition. Elli Avram is hosting the show and we did not see Sunil Grover anywhere. Post that, we had another contestant Parvindar an engineering student who presented a skit on growing up in a Punjabi family in adolescence.

Hakim Singh came and sang a song Main Hoon Akshay ka Fan with some funny lyrics. The judges were surprised by his act and though he did not manage to have us rolling with laughter, Akshay found him damn funny. The best act was by Nitesh Shetty. He presented an act on the middle class Mumbaikar and was quite bang on. The comedy was rooted in reality and earned a lot of appreciation from all the judges. Nitesh was the best. Of course, in comparison it is not close to season one where people really made us laugh. However, it is nice to see people deviating from the usual PJs and toilet jokes. The comedy was really scene with no innuendos. That is a huge thing in the current situation on TV.

Yes, the show has started on a lukewarm note but we feel it is too early to write it off. The judging panel is fresh and the contestants are trying to do something different. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more scoop and updates…
