Salman Khan playfully trolls Game of Thrones as he announces his partnership with Amazon Prime – watch video

Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood right now, when it comes to popularity as well as box office power. Most of his recent movies have been huge blockbusters and have been record-breakers. Even though his last movie, Tubelight, had an underwhelming performance at the box office, we are sure that’s just a minor niggle since his upcoming Tiger Zinda Hai is already catching up on the heat of anticipation.

So checking out his superstardom, the online streaming service provider, Amazon Prime Video has just made a cracker tie-up with Salman Khan for a worldwide exclusive content deal. Though the details are quite vague on this, it is said to be one of the biggest star deals in the country. The deal is about Salman Khan giving Amazon exclusive rights to stream all his upcoming movies, including even the recently released Tubelight, after their theatrical release. Amazon is reportedly getting a two-month window where these movies will not be shown on any other channels.

Salman Khan has spoken about the deal in the below video, where he even had a dig at Game of Thrones (was it Amazon’s idea to hit back at Hotstar and HBO?)…

Speaking to ET about the deal, the head of content of Prime Video, Asia Pacific, James Farrell said, “Salman is a huge star with a massive global fan following. This exclusive worldwide Prime Video streaming deal with him is one of the biggest star deals to have ever been done in the world. India is a top priority market for Amazon and we believe that the love India has for films, the passion, the energy and the talent of India needs to be on a worldwide stage for global audiences to see.”

Nitesh Kripalani, country head, Amazon Video India, said, “Salman Khan is the biggest star in India with a massive worldwide appeal… This is another big step to change the way how Indian customers consume entertainment with Salman’s movies coming first to Prime Video customers, before their television broadcast.”
