Lipstick Under My Burkha is still going strong at the box office despite competing with big films that released last Friday. It has ended its second weekend on a high by amassing Rs 14.72 crore at the box office. For a film made at a budget of just over Rs 6 crore, this is nothing short of a feat which should be now treated as a bible for all. Taran Adarsh revealed the numbers saying, “#LipstickUnderMyBurkha [Week 2] Fri 94 lakhs, Sat 1.37 cr, Sun 1.45 cr. Total: ₹ 14.72 cr. India biz.”
As you can see, it took a big dip on Friday but Saturday and Sunday went back to make big money for the film. Clearly it is still the most preferred film to watch at the theatres. In fact, it rarely happens that a film’s Monday figures are better than its opening day. LUMB became an exception in that case as well. It had better numbers on its first Monday then on Friday. Rest of the weekdays saw much better numbers and thus it managed to post more than Rs 10 crore on its tally in the first week. Check out the figures right here…

Lipstick Under My Burkha’s success goes on to show that irrespective of who is part of a film, audience will watch it if it has a content that connects with the audience. The story about four women struggling to come out in the open with their desires resonated with many because even after 70 years of Independence, oppression of women is still a reality.
