The Conjuring series has no plans to stop scaring us. If the main series is still giving us nightmares, the makers make sure that the tradition continues with the spin-off. Like that of Annabelle. The spooky doll from the Conjuring had its solo movie in 2014. Though the movie was critically panned, it still was big box office success, reiterating the fact that the audiences have a thing for horror movies. Now a second Annabelle movie is ready for release and going by the trailer, it’s going to be a really spooky affair. However, Annabelle: Creation will not be a sequel to the 2014 movie, but it will be a prequel and shows the origins of the spooky doll.
Now the release date has been confirmed for August 18, while it is releasing a week before in the US on August 11. The movie is directed by David F. Sandberg, and stars Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson and Philippa Coulthard. Earlier speaking to media, Sandberg had said, “The best part of being in a theatre with an audience watching the film is the series of three emotions they express: anticipation, when they’re whispering, ‘Is this thing coming?’ or ‘No, don’t go in that room!’; when they get scared and jump and scream; and, finally, when they laugh with relief at each other for jumping and screaming. Then that’s what I am hoping for.”
Now that the movie is coming on August 18, it will be clashing with Haseena and Bareilly Ki Barfi. Haseena is a biopic based on Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Shraddha Kapoor plays the title role, while her brother Siddhant Kapoor is playing Dawood. Then there is Ashwiny Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao in the lead.
Will Anabelle: Creation manage to offer some competition to Bareilly Ki Barfi and Haseena?
