If you are a Kajol fan, July 31 will be quite special for you. On this day, the super-talented actress will be completing 25 years in Bollywood, and that’s no mean feat indeed. Kajol had made her debut with the 1992 movie Bekhudi, however, it was Baazigar that made her a known star. From thereon, she slowly ascended to more and more fame with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge being the milestone of her career, and making both Shah Rukh Khan and her certified superstars. Even in 2017, their jodi is still considered to be the most romantic onscreen pairing of all time in Bollywood, and they continue to be good friends even today.
Kajol gave some exemplary performances in quite a lot of movies, with the highlights being DDLJ, Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, My Name is Khan, and my personal fave, Dushman. After marriage, she has been doing lesser movies, with her last release being Dilwale. She will be next seen in Tamil movie VIP 2.
On the occasion of her completing 25 years, we list 12 of our favourite movies featuring her, and you choose which of these is your most fave…
Shah Rukh Khan’s brilliant negative act might be this thriller’s biggest strength, but as a girl seeking her sister’s killer, Kajol was indubitable on fine form here.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
The biggest running blockbuster of all time is still remembered for the iconic romance between Raj and Simran, played by Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol respectively.
Gupt: The Hidden Truth
One of the Bollywood’s biggest twists – not the butler, but Kajol is the killer. And she is so effing good at being menacing that she won the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor in a Negative role.
Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya
Salman Khan and Kajol looked so wonderful together in this musical romcom, that we wonder why they didn’t pair up in any other movie. There is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, of course, but then you know whom she ends up with…
Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha
Kajol has paired up with her real-life partner Ajay Devgn in more than half a dozen movies, but this remake of Meg Ryan’s The French Kiss was the most enjoyable of the lot.
Tanuja Chandra’s underrated crime thriller has Kajol’s finest performance as a vendetta seeking sibling baying for the blood of a serial killer. Dare to disagree?
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Karan Johar and Kajol may have parted ways but Kajol gave one of her best and memorable performances in his debut movie, with two more to go.
Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain
This Satish Kaushik family drama may not have aged well with time, but both Kajol and Anil Kapoor were exemplary in here, and their pairing looked good too.
Though they have acted together in Ishq before, this is the first time Aamir Khan and Kajol were paired romantically with each other, and that was a reason enough to make this movie a hit.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…
Even though she was quite loud in her performance, Kajol’s OTT act endeared her more to her fans. Plus, that magic of being paired with SRK hasn’t wavered at all!
My Name is Khan
It’s sad that KJo may not work with his former bestie again, but their last movie together is a reminder that they both bring out the best out of each other.
Being an SRK-Kajol movie, I am sure that Dilwale hasn’t met your expectations much. But no one can deny that Kajol’s badass act was one of the few highlights in the Rohit Shetty movie.
